Editor's Notes:Like you, I am overwhelmed by the pace of the loss of democracy in the US and that of Global Warming, threatening all life as we now know it!
Last night I watched the "World News" with Peter Jennings on ABC TV. One segment sought to expose some of the "conspiracy theories" on the theft of Election 2004. This network missed to mention the key element - - that there is really no way of verifying if a vote is counted or if fraud had occurred. The spin is - "Just Trust US! - Why would we lie to you?" In his classic article, "Paranoid Shift, Michael Hasty highlighted what William Blum wrote in his book, "Rogue State: A Guide to the World's Only superpower." Blum wrote on how the media will make anything that smacks of "conspiracy theory" an immediate "object of ridicule." But how can the media and Congressional representatives stand by when such silence betrays principles in the US Constitution? The Secret US Government seems to be calling the shots in mad-naked behaviors, ripped in between fear, greed, and suicidal self-destructive tendencies.

This Friday night there's a benefit in support of his freedom in Shelburne Falls.
Yet, it is the topsy turvy fraudulent elections in the US that is overshadowing alomost everything else, including the crisis from Global Warming. We are very concerned of the recent Volcano Eruptions in Iceland, which may significantly accelerate the rise in ocean temperatures that can interfere with Gulf Stream currents. This flow is threatened by melting ice in the Arctic, and disruptions off the Antarctic coast."
The recent volcanic eruptions in Iceland is near the top of this cycle loop in the Atlantic Ocean.
These are dangerous and strange times, indeed!

Using a variety of criminal methods that they have perfected over the past four years, the George W. Bush-Dick Cheney-Karl Rove syndicate stole another election, and extended their illegal occupation of the White House.
Experienced, informed and unblinking observers were not fooled by any aspect of this utterly predictable goose-step towards full dictatorship.
But to those who are "shocked" as they watched the election night numbers mysteriously slip away amidst controversy; those who are struggling to understand "what happened" let this cold realization serve as bracing edification.

George W. Bush's vote tallies, especially in the key state of Florida, are so statistically stunning that they border on the unbelievable.
While it's extraordinary for a candidate to get a vote total that exceeds his party's registration in any voting jurisdiction - because of non-voters - Bush racked up more votes than registered Republicans in 47 out of 67 counties in Florida. In 15 of those counties, his vote total more than doubled the number of registered Republicans and in four counties, Bush more than tripled the number.
Statewide, Bush earned about 20,000 more votes than registered Republicans.
By comparison, in 2000, Bush's Florida total represented about 85 percent of the total number of registered Republicans, about 2.9 million votes compared with 3.4 million registered Republicans.
Bush achieved these totals although exit polls showed him winning only about 14 percent of the Democratic vote statewide - statistically the same as in 2000 when he won 13 percent of the Democratic vote - and losing Florida's independent voters to Kerry by a 57 percent to 41 percent margin. In 2000, Gore won the independent vote by a much narrower margin of 47 to 46 percent.
..But, even if one were to estimate that 100 percent of these Evangelical voters turned out for Bush in 2004 and that 100 percent of Bush's 2000 supporters turned out again for him, this still leaves about 5 million new Bush voters unaccounted for.
Altogether, Bush's new 9 million votes came mainly from the largest states in the country. But nowhere was Bush's performance more incredible than in Florida, where Bush found roughly 1 million new voters, about 11 percent all new Bush voters nationwide and more than twice the number of new voters than in any other state other than Texas.

An I-Team 8 investigation reveals recent changes in voting technology have raised the risk of fraud and miscounting.
The investigation finds serious questions about security and troubling concerns on both how the technology is sold, and who is getting rich on public money. It's an investigation into the heart and soul of our way of government: your ability to vote.
You can [begin to] blame all of this on the fiasco of the 2000 presidential election. It prompted the most change since the historic Voting Rights Act of 1965. But after billions have been spent we have to ask: will your vote count?
The curtain is closing on the lever machines of yesterday, but new voting technology has new worries.
"It opens the possibility for a very quiet and subtle alteration of the vote nationally, by someone who wished to do that," said Eugene Spafford, Purdue computer expert. That someone could be an insider or hacker who could electronically rig an election.
Another concern: testing of voting machines isn't tough enough and could miss problems. There's always the possibility of equipment failure.

2) Will John F. Kerry Unconcede?Email from DC Lawyer, Cynthia Butler:
I am angry and getting emails and recrimination from people wondering why KERRY just caved and is not fighting this before the final count in Ohio, before any of the fraud was challenged, before New Mexico and Iowa even came in.
There is widespread feeling that he did not lose the election and that it was taken from him.
There is enough here to warrant investigation and enough to challenge the results. It's coming from all corners.
I understand that he has until the official count certification in Ohio to Un Concede which is several days from now.
Anyone who thinks that he should unconcede should give reasons why -
whatever they noticed, particularly in Red Republican Governed States using electronic machines- and send them directly to Cameron KERRY, John Kerry's brother..*
They should inform us if they were not allowed to vote provisionally (for whatever reason- they lost forms, ran out of forms, etc.) I personally witnessed a number of things as I reported in Texas with the DCCC. (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee)
If you know anyone in particular in Ohio who tried to vote and was turned away at the polls please get their information and notify the campaign.
They should be notified if they experienced lines longer than four hours - particularly elderly or infirm people (we call that torture when they do it to political prisoners) . They should be notified if people were told as has been reported that due to too many people showing up in African American precincts, particularly in Ohio where there were too few booths (some only had two or three for the entire precinct) and told because of heavy turn out they could vote on Wednesday. If the n umbers of these sorts of incidents creates a percentage margin that exceeds the margin of victory- Un Concession has to be made to challenge the count.
If people wanted to and tried to vote and were prevented or actively
discouraged from doing so, that is a Civil Rights matter and must be dealt with in terms of the ultimate count.
This is the last email that I am writing on this subject in this venue. I am taking it up in other venues.

I am grateful to the many people who have contacted me to express their deep concern about questions of miscounting, fraud, vote suppression, and other problems on election day, especially in Florida and Ohio. Their concern reflects how much people care about the outcome of this election.
I want to you to know we are not ignoring it. Election protection lawyers are still on the job in Ohio and Florida and in DC making sure all the votes are counted accurately. I have been conferring with lawyers involved and have made them aware of the information and concerns people have given me.
Even if the facts don't provide a basis to change the outcome, the information will inform the continuing effort to protect the integrity of our elections.
If you have specific factual information about voting problems that could be helpful to the lawyers doing their job, please send it to vri@dnc.org rather than to me.
The election protection effort has been important to me personally, and I am proud of the 17,000 lawyers around the country who helped.
It's obvious that we have a way to go still, but their efforts helped make a difference. Their work goes on.

Fast Arctic Thaw Threatens People, Polar Bears

OSLO - Global warming is heating the Arctic almost twice as fast as the rest of the planet in a thaw that threatens millions of livelihoods and could wipe out polar bears by 2100, an eight-nation report said on Monday.
The biggest survey to date of the Arctic climate, by 250 scientists, said the accelerating melt could be a foretaste of wider disruptions from a build-up of human emissions of heat-trapping gases in the earth's atmosphere.
The "Arctic climate is now warming rapidly and much larger changes are projected," according to the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment (ACIA), funded by the United States, Canada, Russia, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Norway and Finland.
Arctic temperatures are rising at almost twice the global average and could leap 4-7 Celsius (7-13 Fahrenheit) by 2100, roughly twice the global average projected by U.N. reports. Siberia and Alaska have already warmed by 2-3 C since the 1950s.

September 22, 2004, Greenfield, MA:
The Greenfield Town Council has rejected Native American pleas to remove 10 acres of wetlands from the new French King Highway commercial zoning strip. The non-profit Native American historic preservation organization, Friends of Wissatinnewag, asserts that those 10 acres contain Native burials.
While rescinding the rezoning vote would have allowed the Council to remove the 10 acres from the threat of imminent commercial development, and then to re-vote to keep the remaining 35 acres commercially zoned without costing the town any money, the unabashedly pro-development Council majority instead refused, and moved to force a costly special election on the re-zoning question to be held November 16th.
In 2001, the non-profit Friends purchased and protected the ancient Indian village and burial ground known as Wissatinnewag, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Fordham says sand and gravel excavation on the Wissatinnewag site in 1964 hit numerous burials, which were dumped and bulldozed into the nearby 10 acre White Ash Swamp. In July of this year, the Greenfield Town Council re-zoned this wetland as part of a new 45 acre commercial area on French King Highway, designed to pave the way for a big box superstore.
A ballot question committee has been formed in preparation of the November 16th vote.
On November 11, the committee, named Citizens for Native American Grave Protection, has taken out a full-page ad in the Greenfield newspaper, The Recorder. Help us get out the vote in Greenfield, MA to "Protect Native Graves - Vote Yes on One" campaign.

5) Richard Sitcha, 9/11 prisoner in Greenfield, MAOverview:
In April 2001, Richard Sitcha fled Cameroon after being imprisoned and tortured by the government's security forces due to his involvement with the political protests against the Bepanda Nine killings. Fearing for his life, Richard applied for political asylum as soon as he arrived in the United States. The United States government granted Richard asylum in January 2003, while I was working with him on my thesis project. Life was looking up for Richard—he could now realize his dreams of going back to school and bringing his wife and two children to the US. On September 18, 2003, however, the US government revoked Richard's asylum and arrested him in the courtroom. He has been in jail, without charge, ever since that date. Although he is innocent of committing a crime, Richard was incarcerated for 6 months in the Osborn Connecticut Correctional Institution, a maximum security prison. One of his cellmates was a convicted murderer prone to violent outbursts. On February 2, 2004 a different cellmate attacked and brutalized Richard, who was hospitalized under psychiatric care for two days after the incident. On March 29, 2004, Richard was transferred to Franklin County House of Correction in Greenfield, MA. He has since remained in Franklin County Jail.
