Editor's Notes:While many progressives in the US debate the politically correct way to discuss the Israeli conflict in Lebanon, the world community condemns Israel for escalating the violence and harming innocent people. Item 2 includes a Seymour Hersh interview with Democracy Now regarding the US supporting the shock and awe bombing of Lebanon. The second item includes an article on the government's interest in using prison inmates for drug trials. A late entry in this issue is an article on Robert Woodward's family settlement to drop the case of a friend, Woody, who was shot dead while seeking political asylum in a Church one minute after police entered the building and riddled him with seven bullets, and denied him emergency medical attention. The new brave world had its expansion on September 11, 2001. Now, five years later, 9/11 truth could be on the brink of discovery. Such revelations could bring an end to a corrupt government; but everyone is called upon to help push truth over the edge, and support principles of the US Constitution, international law, and peace.

The official publishing house of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has printed a new book about the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks that has outraged conservatives in the church and elsewhere.
The book, "Christian Faith and the Truth Behind 9/11," written by David Ray Griffin, a professor emeritus at Claremont School of Theology in California, accuses the Bush administration of carrying out the attacks as a pretext for expanding America's "demonic" imperial power.

It led the FOX 13 news at 6:00 PM and was shown 3 more times including the following morning!
Our cause of 9/11 awareness was treated respectfully in the coverage.
Everybody we meet around here seems to have seen it!!

The group I represent today is 911courage.org. We are a group of concerned citizens who are using the power of civil disobedience to create awareness of this national crisis. We urgently need an immediate reinvestigation of the events of 9/11. We are using leaflets to alert the public about the discrepancies between real science & physics and the fictional account that the public has been spoon fed. We demand a real investigation. It takes all my courage to step forward like this, but my fear is insignificantly small when you compare it to the huge lie we are facing.
Oliver Stone’s new movie helps us commemorate the fifth anniversary of the tragedy of September Eleventh. We thank this fine director for dramatizing the heroism of the first responders who put their lives on the line for us there that day in New York and in our local communities for us every day.
The Ground Zero first responders are being denied health care and thousands of them are dying. Over eight thousand of them have filed suits against the government. It troubles me that we are not taking care of those who sacrificed for us. What does this say about our government?
When you see this movie, there is a piece of original footage from that day and it deserves 100% of your attention. You will see Building Seven collapse to the ground. There is no smoke or fire and it was not hit by a plane but this building crumbles before your eyes. We ask, WHY? Why were there pools of molten steel in the basement of this building weeks later? Why did Fire Engineering magazine call the FEMA report a half baked farce? NIST promised to study this collapse and issue a report but they have not done so and five years have passed.
The collapse of this 47 story building which was bigger than both the AmSouth Building and the Bank of America building combined, a massive structure that deserved its place among the best built buildings in the world, did not even get mentioned in the 911 Commission Report. How is this possible? Would you demand an engineering investigation if the AmSouth Building and the Bank of America here in Tampa crumbled to the ground one day? Are we safe in these buildings? If steel buildings can come down so easily, why are we still building with steel?
The truth about the events of 9/11 is now a raging controversy. One third of Americans are now skeptical about the official story. There are people from all around the world trying to draw attention to the use of terror attacks by governments and secret services to further a war agenda. Russian General Ivashov says ‘the Arab kamikazes are just ‘extras’ to mask the operation.’ Terrorist attacks are staged in Madrid, Bali, London & Bombay, and then made to look as if they are the work of foreign terrorist agents. It is time to expose this deception and reassess the news information we are receiving with a critical eye. Those Osama Bin Laden tapes and videos are phonies. The dreaded Abu Musab al-Zarqawi “terror master mind” has been reported dead no less than 5 times. Was he ever really ‘alive’?
Let’s wake up to this transparent propaganda and become more discriminating consumers of the news. And to the media, we say, the time has come to do your jobs. We are heading for certain disaster and we must change course now to build a better future for all people.
There is a group of scientists and investigators who have come together to analyze the World Trade Center data and their conclusions are stark. WTC 1 and 2 each collapsed in about 10 seconds. The only possible explanation for the collapse of those 3 buildings in New York 5 years ago is controlled demolition. That group is Scholars for 911 Truth and their research is available on line.
We are living in confusing times. To sort through the misinformation, disinformation and deliberate lies requires attention and discernment. We are sliding into a wider Middle East conflict and that is precisely what this administration wants. If you don’t believe me, read their strategy papers published at the Project for a New American Century. They are working from a detailed plan and the idea that they are somehow ‘incompetent’ is their clever strategy to deflect analysis of their hidden agenda.
Be a crime scene investigator and study means, motive, & opportunity. The official story presents us with 19 Arab hijackers as the perpetrators, led by a man in a cave. This terror attack has not worked out very well for the Arab world. Since 9/11 there are now wars against Muslims going on in Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, and Palestine. Do you think the Muslims are stupid enough to bring the military might of the US against them in this way?
Is there a more logical explanation? Is there a war agenda? A resources grab? An investigator into a fire disaster would look for clues of possible insurance fraud - could that be a factor here? Was this an evil urban renewal project with a twist? Do we really believe that the trillion dollar US military was unable to intercept a single jetliner on 9/11?
I implore all media and citizens to do their homework on the internet. The information is out there. We need to destroy the myth of the Muslim terrorist as 9/11 perpetrator and look elsewhere to solve the mystery of the 9/11 controlled demolitions.

Investigative journalist Seymour Hersh reports in this week's issue of the New Yorker that Israeli officials visited the White House earlier this summer to get a "green light" for an attack on Lebanon. The Bush administration approved, Hersh says, in part to remove Hezbollah as a deterrent to a potential US bombing of Iran. [includes rush transcript] Israel and Lebanon saw continued violence on the last day before a UN ceasefire. South Lebanon continued to come under intense Israeli bombardment Sunday. In the most lethal attack, fifteen Lebanese were reported killed after Israel bombed the village of Rachat. Meanwhile, Hezbollah launched more than 250 rockets into Northern Israel. It was the highest number of rockets Hezbollah has fired into Israel since fighting began. At least one Israeli was killed.
The past month's violence broke out after Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers and killed eight others. Israel rejected Hezbollah's demand for a prisoner exchange, and launched a full-on attack targeting Lebanon's vital infrastructure, including a power station, the main airport and scores of roads and bridges. An estimated 1,000 Lebanese have been killed and more than one million displaced. At least forty Israeli civilians have been killed and hundreds of thousands displaced under a daily barrage of Hezbollah rockets.
The Bush administration has openly backed Israel's campaign. The administration resisted international efforts for a ceasefire and rushed arms to the Israeli military.
A major new article says U.S. support for the invasion of Lebanon has gone even further than we already know. That in fact, White House support for the massive bombing of Lebanon even predates the day those two Israeli soldiers were seized.
In this week's issue of the New Yorker, investigative journalist Seymour Hersh reports Israeli officials visited the White House earlier this summer to get a "green light" for an attack on Lebanon. The Bush administration approved, Hersh says, in part to remove Hezbollah as a deterrent to a potential US bombing of Iran. A government consultant said the Bush administration also saw the attack on Lebanon as a "demo" for what it could expect to face in Iran.

On Aug. 1, the parents of Robert Woodward, who was shot and killed by two Brattleboro police officers in December 2001, accepted $150,000 in exchange for dropping their lawsuit against the town. They promised to donate to charity any money left after they pay their lawyers.
At least two groups were harmed by the shooting of Robert Woodward. The first group was Woodward's family and friends. They lost a 37-year-old man who was by all accounts kind and generous. The second group was anyone who spends any time in Brattleboro. Members of the second group are at the mercy of Brattleboro police. This group lost an intangible but important sense of safety and trust.
With the settlement, the people of Brattleboro lost any hope of a public trial for the officers who killed Woodward. This isn't the fault of Woodward's family so much as it's the fault of Vermont Attorney General William Sorrell (up for re-election in November). Sorrell declined to press criminal charges against his fellow law enforcement officers.
Because of the quality of the witnesses, a trialcriminal or civilwould have likely answered the question of whether Woodward's death was justified. Woodward was shot after he walked into a church during Sunday morning services. Four members of the congregation saw the shooting and later swore that Woodward, armed only with a pocket knife, was never a threat to anyone but himself. The congregation had listened to Woodward speak for at least several minutes before the cops arrived, summoned by a 911 call from a congregant. Less than 60 seconds later, Woodward was shot seven times, according to published reports.
Three federal judges in New York City last year ordered a judge in Brattleboro to reconsider his decision to throw out the Woodward family's case.
At least one positive change came from Woodward's death. Following protests organized by the group JusticeforWoody.net the town established an official committee to handle complaints against the police. Since it was set up three months ago, the committee has received 12 complaints.
