Kansas City, MO (Zogby International) September 6, 2007 - As America nears the sixth anniversary of the world-churning events of September 11, 2001, a new Zogby International poll finds a majority of Americans still await a Congressional investigation of President Bush' and Vice President Cheney's actions before, during and after the 9/11 attacks. Over 30% also believe Bush and/or Cheney should be immediately impeached by the House of Representatives.
The 911truth.org-sponsored poll also found that over two-thirds of Americans say the 9/11 Commission should have investigated the still unexplained collapse of the 47-story World Trade Center Building 7 at 5:20 p.m. on September 11, 2001.

Senior Staff Member Calls for New Investigation of 9/11

Sept. 5, 2007 – In an online editorial yesterday, Joel S. Hirschhorn, PhD, former Senior Staff Member of the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment (OTA), called for a new investigation of 9/11. “First, let the technical truth emerge. Then, if necessary, cope with the inevitable political, conspiracy and other questions. But let us not allow a possible painful truth block the primary task of determining once and for all what caused the collapse of the WTC towers and building no. 7.”
Dr. Hirschhorn is a nationally recognized engineer who has testified before Congress more than 50 times on technology, science, and environmental issues. In addition to his work for the OTA, Dr. Hirschhorn also served as Director of Environment, Energy and Natural Resources for the National Governors Association.
Dr. Hirschhorn admitted to his own personal “growing skepticism about the official WTC story”. He wrote “analyses by many experts reveal the collapse of the three WTC buildings was not caused by the two airplanes exploding into the twin towers.” He noted “the general view is that the buildings were brought down by controlled demolition.”
Dr. Hirschhorn endorsed the efforts of a new group, Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, to launch a new, honest and comprehensive investigation that considers all the evidence and which examines the possibility of controlled demolition.
Dr. Hirschhorn issued a challenge to supporters of the official account of 9/11, “If those that believe the official 9/11 story - especially elected officials - trust their views, then let them support a serious effort to test the validity of the controlled demolition hypothesis. If they fear and reject doing so, then let us see that as suspicious and unacceptable.”
He concluded, “Horrific possible answers can cause us to shun a question. But clearing our minds of the fear of painful truths is essential to clearing our nation of destructive lies. Otherwise, we stay stuck in a delusional democracy."

Dick Cheney has ordered top Neo-Con media outlets, including Fox News and the Wall Street Journal, to unleash a PR blitz to sell a war with Iran from today, according to Barnett Rubin, the highly respected Afghanistan expert at New York University.
The New Yorker magazine reports that Rubin had a conversation with a member of a top neoconservative institution in Washington, who told him that "instructions" had been passed on from the Office of the Vice-President to roll out a campaign for war with Iran in the week after Labor Day.
"It will be coordinated with the American Enterprise Institute, the Wall Street Journal, the Weekly Standard, Commentary, Fox, and the usual suspects, writes Rubin, "It will be heavy sustained assault on the airwaves, designed to knock public sentiment into a position from which a war can be maintained. Evidently they don’t think they’ll ever get majority support for this—they want something like 35-40 percent support, which in their book is “plenty.”
Rubin subsequently confirmed with a second source that the propaganda coup had been launched and the individual, another top Neo-Con at a major think tank, had this to say about it: “I am a Republican. I am a conservative. But I’m not a raging lunatic. This is lunatic.”

That is the question Larry Johnson asks over at TPMCafe. Johnson is a former counter-terrorism official with the CIA and the State Department. Johnson questions the official story about the nukes being “mistakenly” flown over the US. A retired B-52 pilot reminds him that the only times you put weapons on a plane is when they are on alert or if you are tasked to move the weapons to a specific site. Barksdale AFB is being used as a jumping off point for Mideast operations.
Johnson is “certain that the pilots of this plane did not just make a last minute decision to strap on some nukes and take them for a joy ride.” Johnson asks: “Why would we want to preposition nuclear weapons at a base conducting Middle East operations?” Johnson’s pilot friend believes that “someone on the inside obviously leaked the info that the planes were carrying nukes. A B-52 landing at Barksdale is a non-event. A B-52 landing with nukes. That is something else.”
Johnson wonders: “Did someone at Barksdale try to indirectly warn the American people that the Bush Administration is staging nukes for Iran?”
I certainly hope that is the case. We need responsible officers that are unwilling to let our leaders get away with dragging us closer to war.
UPDATE: The
Military Times newspapers, who originally broke the story leaked by unnamed military officers, reports that

- - False Flag Terrorism"False flag terrorism" occurs when elements within a government stage a secret operation whereby government forces pretend to be a targeted enemy while attacking their own forces or people. The attack is then falsely blamed on the enemy in order to justify going to war against that enemy. Or as Wikipedia defines it:
False flag operations are covert operations conducted by governments, corporations, or other organizations, which are designed to appear as if they are being carried out by other entities. The name is derived from the military concept of flying false colors; that is, flying the flag of a country other than one's own. False flag operations are not limited to war and counter-insurgency operations, and have been used in peace-time; for example, during Italy's strategy of tension.
The term comes from the old days of wooden ships, when one ship would hang the flag of its enemy before attacking another ship in its own navy. Because the enemy's flag was hung instead of the flag of the real country of the attacking ship, it was called a "false flag" attack.
There are many examples of false flag attacks through history. For example, it is widely known that the Nazis, in Operation Himmler, faked attacks on their own people and resources which they blamed on the Poles, to justify the invasion of Poland. And it has now been persuasively argued as shown, for example, in this History Channel video that Nazis set fire to their own parliament, the Reichstag, and blamed that fire on others. The Reichstag fire was the watershed event which justified Hitler's seizure of power and suspension of liberties.
And in the early 1950s, agents of an Israeli terrorist cell operating in Egypt planted bombs in several buildings, including U.S. diplomatic facilities, then left behind "evidence" implicating the Arabs as the culprits (one of the bombs detonated prematurely, allowing the Egyptians to identify the bombers). Israel's Defense Minister was brought down by the scandal, along with the entire Israeli government. Click here for verification.
The Russian KGB apparently conducted a wave of bombings in Russia in order to justify war against Chechnya and put Vladimir Putin into power (see also this short essay and this report). And the Turkish government has been caught bombing its own and blaming it on a rebel group in order to justify a crackdown on that group. Muslim governments also play this game. For example, the well-respected former Indonesian president claimed that their government had a role in the Bali bombings.
This sounds nuts, right? You've never heard of this "false flag terrorism," where a government attacks its own people then blames others in order to justify its goals, right? And you are skeptical of the statements discussed above? Please take a look at these historical quotes:

I had the opportunity to ask Democratic Presidential candidate and Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH-10) at the August 25th anti-war rally in Kennebunkport, Maine about his stand on granting clemency for Leonard Peltier after his speech to, as according to estimates reported in the Boston Globe, from over 1,200 to about 3,000 persons at the rally.
At first, during Congressman Kucinich's speech, a few of us held up a sign, which stated, "Mike Gravel would seek to free Leonard Peltier, why not Dennis Kucinich?"
Afterward, I approached the congressman and asked if he would grant Leonard Peltier executive clemency. He answered that he would review the case. I reminded him that Bill Clinton promised to review the case. He said he can't be responsible for what Clinton did.
I also reminded him that I posed the question to him in 2004 and he promised me that he would get back to me on that. I also stated that he should think from the perspective of someone who has been incarcerated 31 years and who has had empty promises
He stated that he just cannot let someone free without reviewing the case and it's the president’s responsibility to review the case. I asked him why he would have to wait to become president to review his case. I mentioned Mike Gravel's statement of clemency and that other Congresspersons have come forward supporting clemency. I mentioned a letter signed by Nancy Pelosi in the early 90's. (this was a letter to then Attorney General Janet Reno signed by 16 Congresspersons, including Nancy Pelosi to examine whether justice was served in Mr. Peltier's case.) The letter can be viewed at:

Dennis Kucinich's facial expression changed when I mentioned Wellstone's support. He said he would look into the case and I reminded him that I would keep in correspondence on his website and congress.org.
I continued to ask Dennis Kucinich supporters to contact Dennis and urge him to take a stand on clemency for Leonard. Many supporters said they would. I marched the two miles with my sign and saw Dennis Kucinich walk by me at the end of the march. By this time I had the sign rolled up. I said, "Take a stand, please." He tapped me on the shoulder and said, "you got it."
In conclusion I would urge Leonard Peltier supporters to contact Dennis Kucinich and urge him to take a stand on clemency for Leonard Peltier. He needs to understand; "You want my vote? Free Leonard Peltier."

Lori releases a commentary. Lori Berenson, a US citizen, is currently being held as a political prisoner in Cajamarca, Perú. After serving more than a five years in harsh Peruvian jails high in the Andes, her conviction for treason against Perú and her life sentence were overturned. In June 2001 she was cleared of terrorism-related charges but convicted of collaboration, and sentenced to twenty years in prison in a trial that the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights claims completely violated her rights. - - Free Richard SitchaIn April 2001, Richard Sitcha fled Cameroon after being imprisoned and tortured by the government’s security forces due to his involvement with the political protests against the Bepanda Nine killings. Fearing for his life, Richard applied for political asylum as soon as he arrived in the United States. The United States government granted Richard asylum in January 2003. Life was looking up for Richard—he could now realize his dreams of going back to school and bringing his wife and two children to the US. On September 18, 2003, however, the US government revoked Richard’s asylum and arrested him in the courtroom. He has been in jail, without charge, ever since that date! For more information, visit -
